Never Stop Spinning Plates

Recently while talking to my friend Stallion, I asked him about one of his girls that I had met a couple of weeks before.  He looked confused for a minute, then said, “Oh her?  Yeah we’re finished.”  Then we both laughed a bit, clinked our beers, and started talking about her new replacement in his rotation.

This got me thinking about my other friend Shooter and what was different about these two.  Both are young and good with women.  Both have solid game and a decent understanding of the female mind, but they had completely different reactions when things ended with a girl.  I realized that it was because while Shooter had more than one girl going at a time, he let them stagnate and he made the mistake of getting too attached.  Stallion had the right idea.

Do Not Invest in Korean Women

Recently one of my close friends in Korea, Shooter, decided to leave the country after a couple of years here.  He loved it here, he had a great job and a ton of friends, and never had any trouble getting attention from women when he went out.  So why did he decide to leave?  Why did he decide to go back to being jobless in the states living with his parents?

Don’t Tinder Korea

Tinder is the biggest possible waste of your time and energy if you’re looking to meet Korean girls.

It’s a microcosm of shitty American culture coming to Korea and being made even worse.  Every interaction begins with you providing the girl with instant validation of her looks, which in and of itself is not a good beginning.  Then 99% of the time, you have to send messages first and show direct interest, further weakening your hand.  If she even bothers responding to your dancing bear intro or terrible pun, you’re in a situation where you almost have to play into her hand just to get her to meet face to face.  It’s a lazy and weak way of trying to meet girls in general, and it especially doesn’t work in Korea.

Dealing With the Language Barrier

Picking up girls in another country is never easy, and it’s a good bit more difficult when the natives don’t have extensive knowledge of English.  Places like Europe and touristy destinations around the world will have a ton of locals who speak English with at least decent proficiency, but East Asia generally does not.  On top of that, if you go to places like Central and South America, Spanish is relatively easy to pick up to a conversational point.  Korean is not.

Korean is definitely one of the most difficult languages in the world to learn, which is why many expats have been here for years upon years without learning more than survival phrases.  I, for one, refuse to be that guy.  I took it upon myself after arriving here to develop a strong proficiency with the language, and I’m now at a point where I’m functionally fluent but not native.  This is entirely unimportant though in terms of picking up women.

Reflections on Weekend in Daejeon

Last weekend I took the second in my series of trips around Korea to gather more information to share with you.  The first weekend, I was in Seoul, and it is probably a trip I will do again later once I’ve honed my information gathering strategy a bit more.  In my reflections from that weekend, I noted that simply trying to get laid in a different city didn’t really provide me with new information about that city, but was just a representation of who was out on that particular night.  That weekend in Seoul wasn’t a great night because of weather and timing, as it was the national vacation week in Korea so there weren’t many people out.
