Since I’ve started writing down my thoughts about meeting Korean girls, I’ve started becoming more analytical about what exactly has helped cause my successes or failures in different situations. The Importance of Momentum
About a week ago, I went out to Hongdae with a couple of my guy friends from my neighborhood. These particular friends of mine aren’t very interested or good at talking to women, so it was mostly a day of us hanging out as guys and having a couple of beers. By the time we got to Hongdae, it was about 11pm. Perfect, I thought. I walked into the first bar, and I couldn’t have been more turned off. Everything just seemed very banal and uninteresting. None of the girls were grabbing my attention. I tried to talk to a couple of them only to be completely blown out, and I just shrugged it off and left. My buddy was laughing at me for acting old and grumpy, and I was getting the results to show for that attitude.
A little while later, we met up with my buddy’s girlfriend and her two friends. I immediately started talking with the friends, but now instead of a busy bar or club, I was in a low-key outdoor setting. I was just meeting new people and having a basic chat, and all the sudden it was back on. From that point on, my presence, style, and game only improved until I wound up one-nighting with a flight attendant.

Recently while talking to my friend Stallion, I asked him about one of his girls that I had met a couple of weeks before. He looked confused for a minute, then said, “Oh her? Yeah we’re finished.” Then we both laughed a bit, clinked our beers, and started talking about her new replacement in his rotation.
This got me thinking about my other friend Shooter and what was different about these two. Both are young and good with women. Both have solid game and a decent understanding of the female mind, but they had completely different reactions when things ended with a girl. I realized that it was because while Shooter had more than one girl going at a time, he let them stagnate and he made the mistake of getting too attached. Stallion had the right idea.

Recently one of my close friends in Korea, Shooter, decided to leave the country after a couple of years here. He loved it here, he had a great job and a ton of friends, and never had any trouble getting attention from women when he went out. So why did he decide to leave? Why did he decide to go back to being jobless in the states living with his parents?

Dealing With the Language Barrier
Picking up girls in another country is never easy, and it’s a good bit more difficult when the natives don’t have extensive knowledge of English. Places like Europe and touristy destinations around the world will have a ton of locals who speak English with at least decent proficiency, but East Asia generally does not. On top of that, if you go to places like Central and South America, Spanish is relatively easy to pick up to a conversational point. Korean is not.
Korean is definitely one of the most difficult languages in the world to learn, which is why many expats have been here for years upon years without learning more than survival phrases. I, for one, refuse to be that guy. I took it upon myself after arriving here to develop a strong proficiency with the language, and I’m now at a point where I’m functionally fluent but not native. This is entirely unimportant though in terms of picking up women.
